Tom Gores

Tom Gores is a self made financier whose investment holdings include California leveraged buyout business Platinum Equity, where he is founder, chairman and chief executive officer. Through Platinum Equity, Mr. Gores owns a portfolio of operating companies in a broad range of business markets including information technology, telecommunications, logistics, and chemical and industrial manufacturing, distribution and service. Mr. Gores makes his investments through a diversified capital base that includes the assets of Platinum Equity's portfolio companies as well as a private equity fund backed by capital commitments from public and private institutional investors. His brother, Alec Gores, heads a similar but unrelated buyout firm, the Gores Group. Another brother, Sam Gores, heads the Paradigm talent agency. Tom Gores lives in Beverly Hills, California with his wife and 3 children. He was born in Israel and immigrated to the United States with his family when he was a child. With an estimated current net worth of around $2.0 billion, he was ranked in 2006 by Forbes as the 160th-richest person in America.
