Tom Bemmes

Thomas A. Bemmes (born circa 1962) is a math teacher at Sycamore Junior High School, and coach at Sycamore Junior High School and is a magician who is a candidate for the Republican nomination for Congress to replace Rob Portman in the Second District of Ohio in the special primary to be held June 14, 2005.

A lifelong resident of Reading who was born in that city, Bemmes does not live in the Second District. He graduated from Reading High School in 1979 and has a B.A. from Urbana University and a M.A. degree from Miami University, both degrees in education. He is a former member of the Board of Education of the Reading Community City School District, Hamilton County, Ohio and teaches in the Sycamore Community City School District, Hamilton County, Ohio. Bemmes told The Cincinnati Post "I grew up the eighth of nine children in a two-bedroom home. The Founding Fathers wanted a common man like me to represent you." [1] Bemmes told The Cincinnati Enquirer "I am not a career politician and am a hard working individual who can relate to the people of this district."

He and his wife, Linda, have three children, Jamie, Kristie and Brian.
