Tom Baker (August 28, 1940 – September 2, 1982) was an American actor who starred in the Andy Warhol movies Blow Job and I, A Man. Born August 28, 1940, he died of a drug overdose on September 2, 1982. He was a known drug and alcohol addict, and a close friend of Jim Morrison of The Doors.
His death caused confusion in the media. British actor Tom Baker, who was at the time more well-known due to his portrayal of the Doctor on the BBC programme Doctor Who, was confused with him as both Tom Bakers were heavy drinkers. It was mistakenly reported in some publications that the popular British actor had died.
