TollTag

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TollTag is the electronic toll collection system used on the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA). It was North America’s first electronic toll collection system when it was installed on the Dallas North Tollway in 1989. There are now over 1,000,000 of these electronic transponders in operation in the North Texas area. In addition to using the tags for downtown parking, toll collection, traffic management, and gated communities, drivers are able to use their tags at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and at Dallas Love Field (DAL) to pay for parking.

TollTags can be used on all of the roadways of the NTTA which include the Dallas North Tollway, President George Bush Turnpike, Addison Airport Toll Tunnel, and Mountain Creek Lake Bridge.

TollTags users have reduced fares at all toll plazas and no-stop express lanes at some plazas.

As of late 2003, through the new TxTAG program, the TollTag can also be used on specially marked lanes of tolled roadways in metropolitan Houston.
