Tokyo Fist (1995) is a Japanese drama/horror film. It was written and directed by Shinya Tsukamoto, who also stars in the film along with his brother Kôji Tsukamoto and Kahori Fujii. The horror aspect of the film comes mostly from some brutal and exaggerated imagery showing the consequences of the film's violence.

Like with so many other films by Tsukamoto, the music for the film was composed by Japanese industrial music band Der Eisenrost.

[edit] Plot

The film tells about a Japanese door-to-door insurance salesman, Tsuda Yoshiharu, who takes up boxing after some chance meetings with a former high school friend, Kojima Yakuji. When in highschool, Kojima and Tsuda had a pact to become boxers so they could take revenge on a group of thugs who they saw kill a girl. However, only Kojima actually honored that pact, and he isn't happy with Tsuda's career choice. Kojima starts interfering in the lives of Tsuda and his girlfriend, Hizuru, and soon causes them to break up and Hizuru ends up with Kojima. Tsuda then begins his boxing training, looking to get revenge.

Hizuru and Kojima do not get along for long, however, as Hizuru starts to collect tattoos and piercings in her body, causing Kojima to start thinking of her as a freak and Hizuru subsequently loses her respect for Kojima. Tsuda still has feelings for Hizuru, and he keeps trying to win her back, leading to a confrontation where they bond by beating each other's faces to a pulp. In the end, Kojima and Tsuda end up in a sparring match in their boxing club, which leads to Tsuda getting beaten again, while Kojima goes on to win a real match, with no regard to his own well-being afterwards.
