Tokonatsu is a three-day anime convention held in Woburn, Milton Keynes, England. 2006 will be the convention's second year.
[edit] Tokonatsu '06
Tokonatsu '06 is a three day anime convention that will run from the 28th to the 30th of July, in Woburn, just outside Milton Keynes, England.
Tokonatsu differs from all other UK anime conventions in that accommodation is provided by the attendees in the form of tents, and a tent can optionally be supplied for a small fee. This makes Tokonatsu one of the cheapest conventions in the UK. Tokonatsu is also unique in that registrations are accepted from 13-16 year olds, which is lower than the 16+ requirement from other similar UK conventions.
Tokonatsu relies heavily on the more social aspect of the anime fandom. Due to its outdoor location, many events take place in the sun, when present, otherwise marquees are required to house them. Tokonatsu is frequently visited by DDR:UK, that run DDR tournaments in one of the marquees. Anime showings are also provided in another marquee.
The most popular event is 'Otaku Royale', where convention attendees and staff take part in a large-scale water fight. Bringing a large water gun to the convention is encouraged, but a limited amount of guns are supplied for those who don't.
[edit] Tokonatsu-Gaming
In 2006 Tokonatsu branched out into the computer gaming events market running Tokonatsu-Gaming.
