Tod Gordon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tod A. Gordon was the founder of Eastern Championship Wrestling, later Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). He owned the promotion until it was sold to his head booker Paul Heyman in 1996.
After the sale, Gordon remained in ECW as a figure-head commissioner. Years after being the ECW "Commissioner", Gordon left ECW. His absence was explained on-air that he retired from wrestling due to family. However, rumors circulated that Gordon was fired by Heyman after he was suspected as a "locker room mole" for a rival wrestling promotion, helping to lure talent to World Championship Wrestling. Many years later, in an interview, Gordon claims that the "WCW mole" situation was nothing more than a work. Now Gordon claims that he will start NCWA Northern Championship Wrestling Association. [1]
After ECW, Gordon booked Pro-Pain-Pro Wrestling and founded both Hardcore Homecoming and Xtreme Fight Club. In 2005, Gordon tried to sue WWE, claiming that WWE's 2001 purchase of ECW and its video library and trademarks did not include the pre-extreme years. The case was thrown out of court in May of 2006. Gordon's lawyers promised to appeal.
Gordon is involved with Pro Wrestling Unplugged and on their September 20, 2006 2nd Anniversary event, Gordon was announced as their new owner.
