Talk:Toda of Navarre

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am confused about several of the marriages listed for her children. Toda was apparently born abt 885. She is listed as mother of Amulina. Yet per the entry for Ordoño II of León his mother was Amulina (Called Jimena after her marriage) to Alfonso III of León and Ordono was born in 873. Likewise Toda's daughter Munia is supposed to be wife of Ordoño I of Asturias who died in 866. Does anyone have clarification?

Neither of these belong. The Roda Codex is thought to have been composed in celebration of the marriage of Garcia Fernandez of Castile (Sancha's son) to Ava of Ribagorza (niece of Velasquita's second husband). It lists Sancho and Toda's ancestry and children, and appears to be well informed. It names neither. Jimena is of unknown parentage, simply assumed to have been of one of the Pamplona dinasies due to her own name and the novel names that appear to have been brought into the Asturian royal family via her. As to Munia, nothing survives other than her name to suggest her parentage, but there were several Castilian noble families that used the male equivalent, Munio, and she probably links with one of them. I have removed them here and on Sancho's page.Agricolae 01:34, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
