To the Nines is the ninth novel by Janet Evanovich featuring the bounty hunter Stephanie Plum. It was written in 2003. It is the second book in a row to NOT to revolve around a criminal bond. In this case a "visa bond." It is also notworthy as it is the first novel to take Stephanie out of New Jersey to another place, this being Las Vegas.

The protagonist Stephanie Plum, has got all the normal concerns in life, the rent, her family, men; yet for some reason there are those around who appear to be threatening her life.

[edit] Explanation of the Novel's Title

The title appears to come from the common phrase, 'dressed to the nines'. This is of uncertain origin but has to do with meaning "very fashionably and elaborately dressed", and is recorded from the 18th century[1].

"My name is Stephanie Plum and I was born and raised in the Chambersburg section of Trenton, where the top male activities are scarfing pastries and pork rinds and growing ass hair." [2]

Stephanie Plum is from New Jersey and someone (or more than one) appears to be trying to kill her.

Plum is a detective and bounty hunter, usually able to turn most event to her advantage. Samuel Singh, an illegal immigrant has been posted bail by Plum's cousin Vinnie. Then Mr. Singh goes missing, so our detective heroine goes on the hunt. However as she gets on the trail she discovers a group of killers who appear more hunter than hunted.
