Category:To do, by priority
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This category contains the lists of articles with a "to-do list", sorted by popularity. Articles with a higher popularity have a higher priority. The popularity of an article is measured by the number of other articles that link to it.
We believe that this category is important because it makes it easy for editors to contribute to articles that are most read : improving them would benefit many. At the same time, contributing to them brings editors the satisfaction that it will be appreciated by many. (No other collaborative edition mechanism provides this focus).
So, the articles with To do's are placed in one of the subcategories below according to the following criteria:
- 1 for articles with more than 500 references to them (i.e. more than 10 pages of links in the "What links here" page)
- 2 for more than 250 references or more than 5 pages of links in the "What links here" page
- 3 for more than 100 references or more than 2 pages of links in the "What links here" page
- 4 for more than 50 references or more than 1 page of links in the "What links here" page
- 5 for more than 20 references
- 6 for more than 10 references
- 7 for more than 5 references
- 8 for more than 2 references
- 9 for articles with 1 or 2 references
Until Wiki has a mechanism to calculate the popularity automatically, the popularity is evaluated manually by looking at the "What links here" of the page. To assign a particular category to an article, follow this procedure:
- evaluate its popularity with "What links here"
- go to the talk page of the article
- edit it
- at the top of the edit box, enter {{todo priority|<priority>}}, where you replace <priority> by the number you evaluated (for example, articles with top priority would have {{todo priority|1}} whilst articles with bottom priority would have {{todo priority|9}})
- save your edit : the talk page is now shown with an empty To-do list, and appears in the appropriate sub-category below.
