Tinguely family

The Tinguely Family is a Swiss family originating in the commune of La Roche of the district of the Gruyere in the canton of Fribourg. Currently the principal representatives live in Switzerland and France.

Some personalities:

  • Jean-Jacques Tinguely, of the Rock. He was the Swiss army to the service of Napoleon 1st . Deceased on March 28, 1809 in Burgos (Spain) at the time of the war of Spain.
  • Pierre Tinguely, corporal in the battle of Castelfidardo on September 18, 1860 under the orders of Moricière. Captive fact by Cialdini, I was returned in his country. Deceased in Bulle at the 79 years age.
  • Jean Tinguely, one of New Realistic, he is the author of machines of dadaïste spirit, ridiculous and worrying, ludic or destroying. With Niki de Saint-Phalle, it in particular composed the Fountain Stravinsky (1982-1983), close to the George-Pompidou Center in Paris.
