Tina Landon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tina Landon is a choreographer and dancer for high-profile concert tours and music videos. Originally from Lancaster, California, she has been a household name in the dancing industry since the late 1980s. She started as a Los Angeles Lakers Girl with Paula Abdul, had her first video work on Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal, and then toured as a dancer on Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation World Tour.
During the tour, Jackson asked Tina to help her with some moves for the cleavage-heavy Love Will Never Do video. Up until then, Jackson avoided the sexual image. When she wanted to make that change she asked Tina for a little coaching. Janet embraced her new found sex-symbol image and again turned to Landon to choreograph If. Tina delivered with a high-energy mix of sassy twists and crotch-grabbing antics that helped to propel Janet’s new image to the forefront of the music world. Tina went on to choreograph the entire “janet” project, including the You Want This video and a world tour. Tina then took on Janet’s The Velvet Rope project, including the Together Again video and another world tour, this time scoring Tina an Emmy nomination for the HBO concert special.
Her work with Janet also opened doors to other high-profile artists. Tina has since choreographed videos and world tours for almost everyone in the business – Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Mýa, Shakira, P!nk, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Tina Turner, Anastacia, Jay-Z, Samantha Mumba, Lil' Kim, Aerosmith, Marc Anthony, Prince, Deborah Cox, The Pussycat Dolls, Kelly Osbourne, Mariah Carey, Faith Hill, Ciara, Mötley Crüe, Stacie Orrico, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds – even ice skating champion Kristi Yamaguchi and the Wayans brothers' film White Chicks.
Tina and her choreography have appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, MTV VMA's, Grammys, American Music Awards, cover of Dance Spirit magazine, Performing As, MTV Becoming, Jamie Foxx Show, MTV Movie Awards, Top Of The Pops, MTV Making The Video, Smash Hits Poll Winners Party, Much Music Awards, Soul Train Awards, Billboard Awards, Blockbuster Awards, Super Bowl 2001 Half Time Show, both the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics closing ceremonies, NAACP Image Awards, Latin Grammys, VH1 Fashion Awards, Rosie O'Donnell, Saturday Night Live, VH1 My Music Awards, Will & Grace, The One: Making a Music Star and many others. Tina has also choreographed commercials for Pepsi, Coke, Old Navy, Loreal, Reebok and Twix.
