Tin(II) oxide

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tin(II) oxide (stannous oxide) is a chemical material in a powdered state. It is a blue/black powder most commonly used as a precursor in manufacture of other tin salts. It has a minor use as an esterfication catalyst.

The band gap is approximately 3.5eV. When doped with an appropriate N-Type dopant, for example antimony, Tin(II) oxide can serve as a transparent conductor similar to ITO.
