[edit] Bhati

Can you please merge the Bhatti article to this one too. Also although some sources suggest that Maharja Ranjit Singh was of Bhatti origin, the local traditions consider him of different lineage.

You've been pretty busy since I welcomed you to Wikipedia way back on November 6. According to Interiot's tool, you have contributed more than 3600 edits, including over 3300 in the main namespace. [edit] Cleanup

Ok, hi there. I look at my watch page, and there you are going through all my west coast articles and there's the '"You Can Help" tag to your summary. I am a bit mystified by this, do you mean for disambigs in general? As it is I am even further mystified, as I am sure there was no disambig issue in the first place ?  :) Oh well, thanks for whatever you are up to.SatuSuro 07:20, 21 January 2006 (UTC) Another even more mystifying occurence is the two entries for mount sedgwick, I had asked for an afd for the incorrectly spelt one, and thought it had happened, but you find both.... oh well again SatuSuro 07:23, 21 January 2006 (UTC) Hey you're doing a great job! The Mt Sedge is my problem anyways, no sweat!SatuSuro 22:34, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Syracuse

Thanks for editing a page in my user space. Unfortunately the edit was actually wrong. The article was refereing to Syracuse the italian city and not the american town. On worries. I've tried to check other changes, in case same mistake made elsewhere. --Salix alba (talk) 10:17, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bhati/Bhatti merger

Please de-merge the two articles, as both of the clans are totally different. Bhattis are from the Punjab province and Bhatis are the Rajputs of Jaiselmer.

Anirudh Singh Bhati

I am not aware how to make the demerger. I am new to wikipedia. Can you please send me the tags?

Anirudh Singh Bhati

Could you please cite Sir Denzil Ibbetson's work, that you have mentioned on Talk:Bhatti. Bhati/Bhatti are different clans altogether.[1]
Even this page [2] suggests that Bhattis were Punjabi Rajputs who conquered territories in Pakistan. Bhati Rajputs are originally from Jaiselmer and they are a Chandravanshi clan. Bhattis have their origin from the Bhati clan. Bhattis are generally those who have embraced islam.
Please read [3] also, on Jatland Wiki. (A similar message has been posted on Talk:Bhatti) --Andy123(talk) 19:56, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RFA

Hi TimBentley, thanks for participating in my RfA discussion. Unfortunately, my fellow Wikipedians have decided at this time that I am not suitable to take on this additional responsibility, as the RfA failed with a result of 66/27/5 (71.0% support). If you voted in support of my request, thank you! If you decided to oppose me at this time, then I hope that if I do choose to reapply in the future, the effort I will make in the meantime to improve and expand my contributions to Wikipedia may persuade you to reconsider your position. All the best, Proto t c 10:31, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for supporting/opposing/commenting on my request of adminship, sadly the result was 54/20/7 an thus only 73% support votes, resulting in that the nomination failed. [edit] HP3000

Tim, I disagree with your Stack (Computing) => call stack edit on the HP3000. Like the Burroughs the 3000 is almost a pure stack machine, it has one index register, otherwise all ALU instruction reference at least one argument implicitly from the stack. This is in contrast to a machine like the VAX or x86 where register based idioms are possible and even procedure call instructions like your call_stack reference can be avoided. Please revert. If you follow the links to hpmuseum.net to look at the machine instruction manual (PDF) you'll see what I mean. RDBrown 23:05, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi TimBentley. Just a quick note to thank you for your support in my RfA, which recently passed 62/13/6. Finally, if there is anything that I can assist you with - please don't hesitate to ask. Cheers TigerShark 03:57, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tim Pat Coogan

Tim--can you take a look at the Tim Pat Coogan page. Certain Irish censors/apologists (Demiurge, Djegan) are deleting my edits claiming as boilerplate excuse their claim that I am a "sockpuppet". If you read my sourced and cited edit, you will see that this is blatant censorship. And maybe you'll wonder why not only is Demiurge censoring my edits to the wikipage, he is also deleting my notes on the Discussion Page.

Demiurge has a long history of attempted censorship and Catholic apologetics on Wikipedia, where NEITHER of those things belongs. He has gotten away with it because he is backed up by his fellow Irish Wikipedians. He only stops (as he did regarding the Ante Pavelic and pre-Code movies pages) when he is caught red-handed by other third-party Wikipedians.

One day (probably soon) he is going to want to be an administrator. Do you think a censor and Catholic apologist belongs on Wikipedia at all, much less as an administrator??

Just review his edits or his attempted edits, particularly regarding the following pages:

  • Eamon de Valera
  • pre-Code (re ironically movie censorship in the USA by the Catholic church)
  • Ante Pavelic
  • Tim Pat Coogan
  • List of Catholic American actors (or whatever they call it these days)

I appreciate your faith in me, and was overwhelmed by the positive response to my RFA; for it shows that at least I'm doing something right. :) I've started working to improve myself already, and I hope that next time, things run better, and maybe, just maybe, one day we can bask on the shores of Admintopia together. [edit] Completing RFD Nominations

I commend you for completing unfinished RFD nominations. There seems to be only a few of us that do it regularly so they sometimes fall through the cracks for awhile. When you run into a bunch of them by the same person (like most of the ones you added today), you may want to consider pushing back on that person to do it. Here's an example of what I've done in the past. This ensures the person adding the RFD tag learns to do it right. I don't mind correcting a few, but when it's a bunch, I tend to think they should clean up after themselves. Anyhow, good job either way! -- JLaTondre 22:19, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Actually, someone had told them, but they didn't do anything about it. TimBentley (talk) 22:41, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
In that case, I would have reverted the nominations that I didn't agree should be deleted with an edit summary of something like "incomplete nomination which nominator has not completed despite request". A nomination is only valid if listed and if they don't want to take the time to list it then there is no need for the rest of us to take the time to process it. But that's only my opinion and if you don't mind listing them, there is nothing wrong with that. Thanks! -- JLaTondre 11:49, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RfA thanks

Thank you very much for participating in my RFA, which closed successfully today with a result of (62/18/3). I will go very carefully at first, trying to make sure I don't mess up too badly using the tools, and will begin by re-reading all the high-quality feedback I received during the process, not least from those who opposed me. Any further advice/guidance will be gratefully accepted. I hope I will live up to your trust! Guinnog 14:33, 30 August 2006 (UTC)}

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject_Disambiguation/Adopting_disambiguation_pages

Hi Tim,

I'm really hoping the link checking can be automated, so you won't have to update it. The two main goals of the page, as I see it, are:

  1. A quick-look page for people who already have adopted pages, so they can see the (automated)link count update.
  2. A place where pages can be listed for adoption so people can come claim some.

Thanks! --Ling.Nut 20:46, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] British "dab" page

I noticed that you changed a reference to British to Kingdom of Great Britain. The problem is that British, although marked as a "disambiguation page", is actually a small article that points one to other articles such as to British Isles (terminology) that are also on point. I think in this instance, it is better to leave the "disambiguation" link in place, and I have reverted accordingly. I am even considering removing the dab tag from the article itself. In the meantime, please consider removing the article from your list. Thanks. Robert A.West (Talk) 04:35, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Good job working on the list, thanks. Could you make sure you move them from "To do" to "Done" when you finish? TimBentley (talk) 18:43, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliment, but I'd honestly rather let a more experienced disambiguator make the call on whether an entry is done or not, at least for now. -- Gwern (contribs) 19:54, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] adopt a 'shroom, CorHomo

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your help!

If what you say about CorHomo is correct, then I'm not surprised. It does what it does, and does it fairly well. Did you see my posting about putting links within comments on dab pages, so CorHomo would pick them up? This bug is actually a feature; it's useful.

About the 'shroom page: Dude, crash on the couch, raid the fridge, rearrange the furniture.

I just submitted an article to a linguistics journal. Cross your fingers for me! --Ling.Nut 04:54, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Battle of Saint Gotthard

Tim - first off, thanks for fixing the Ottoman Empire link. I didn't catch that one...nor did I think anyone actually read that article :)

I was wondering if, you have any time, you could work on the disambiguation for the Battle of Saint Gotthard. For some reason, when you search "Battle of St. Gotthard" nothing comes up. I'd like "Battle of Saint Gotthard", "Battle of St. Gotthard" and "Battle of Szentgotthard" to all go directly to my page. I'd do it myself but I don't know the first thing about disambiguation. If you don't have time though, don't worry about it. Thanks.
