Timothy Daniel (born Timothy Daniel Oleston - February 18, 1980) is an internationally touring singer-songwriter.
He was raised in Delavan, Wisconsin. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in La Crosse, Wisconsin (2003). Before starting a career in music he was known for founding the high-end custom computer manufacturer/outlet Explosition Media, Inc. at age 18.
In 2002 Tim also produced the region's most popular local area network event (LAN Party) called "Malice in WonderLAN". The sponsors for the event included Nvidia and BAWLS energy drink. He directed promotional videos to promote the series which served as precursors to a longstanding involvement with short films and vidblogs. Tim’s first widely distributed audio recording "In Da Lan" (a parody of 50cent's "In Da Club") also came from this era.
In May of 2003, Timothy Daniel and his friend Jeremy relocated to San Bruno, California. While working as a network administrator for Global Service Solutions in Emeryville, CA, he developed NorCalTV.com. The multimedia web site featured multi-camera footage from live music performances throughout the Bay Area. Tim directed the films enlisting the help of friends like filmmakers Tim (TW) Hansen of and Justin Johnson.
While shooting footage for NorCalTV.com Timothy Daniel met with Joel Ackerson and Brett Hobin who were on tour in San Francisco from Syracuse, NY. In December of 2003, Tim became the manager for the Joel Ackerson Band. During the spring of 2004, the band (with Tim) went on a coast-to-coast tour to 30 major US cities.
Timothy Daniel gave his first performance at Flashbacks in Delavan, Wisconsin on April 4th of 2004. That was also the release date of his first CD entitled “The NonPop EP”. The four song EP featured an early version of his most popular release; “Better Than Truth”. The CD was produced by David Peters with whom Tim collaborated on several projects.
In March of 2005, Timothy Daniel’s debut album “Better Than Truth – Limited Edition” was released. It was co-produced by Tim, the Animators (Devon Copley and Alex Wong), and David Peters. In support of “Better Than Truth – Limited Edition” Tim completed two national solo tours and two national tours as a duo with Brett Hobin on bass guitar and backing vocals.
Later in 2005 Tim relocated to Reno, NV where he started Intellective Records. The organization was built to serve as a business hub and marketing umbrella for numerous independent musicians. Kiff, The Animators, Megan Slankard, Brad Wolfe, Joal Rush, Joel Ackerson, Seth Horan, Amber Rubarth, Justin Farren, and several others appeared on the critically acclaimed “Unbelievably Unsigned” compilations (volumes 1 & 2) which were put out by Intellective Records. During December of 2005, Tim delivered his first international performances at Bar Solo and the Bedford in London, UK.
February of 2006 was the release day for Tim’s self produced 7-track EP called “The Desert Island EP”. It featured a 15 minute track of call-ins from fans set to a rhythm from the project’s title track. Tim completed another national tour in support of the CD.
2006 saw another official relocation for Mr. Daniel and his associated enterprises, this time to a small house he purchased by the Onandoga River just north of Syracuse, NY. In addition to everything else on his plate, Timothy Daniel is now the music coordinator for The Redhouse, a performance venue in downtown Syracuse.
Tim has also sung, played guitar, or produced recordings from, Joel Ackerson, Matt Capucilli, and Lia Rose.
Some of Timothy Daniel’s other projects include Chemical Manlove, Freds New Tractor, Stolen Thunder, and The Tims.
