Timberlea, Nova Scotia

Timberlea is a community in the Halifax Regional Municipality in Nova Scotia, Canada; located approximately 15 kilometres west of downtown Halifax on Nova Scotia Route 3. As of 2001, the population was 4,781.

Timberlea is a part of the Timberlea-Prospect provincial electoral district. Mr. Bill Estabrooks of the NDP has been the MLA since 1999.

The community is mostly residential, with several subdivisions built in the 1980s.

Families living in the Timberlea area have access to excellent schools. École Beechville Lakeside Timberlea Elementary School (pr-5), located in the Glengarry Subdivision, is made up of two adjacent buildings working as one. It is home to over 30 classes of 750 students, and has over 50 staff members.

Ridgecliff Middle School (6-9) is located in nearby Beechville Estates, and has an estimated 577 students in its population. Once they have completed their studies at Ridgecliff, students begin attending Sir John A. Macdonald High. The high school is now located in Tantallon NS in its new long awaited building.
