[edit] History
Opened in the 2000-2001 school year, Timber Creek was built to relieve overcrowding at nearby University High School. Timber Creek High School has since become the largest school in Orange County with nearly 4,200 students enrolled. The school has a generally non-violent record, with no reported shootings or stabbings in the area. Much of the peacefulness of the school is attributed to the active administration and involvement of the teachers.[citation needed] The school is also noted for the lack of secluded places on campus. The basic structure is one main courtyard with hallways radiating outwards from it. Timber Creek High School offers many programs that are uncommon in the area, such as Chinese Language and Russian Language courses. Also, dual enrollment programs and cooperation from nearby University of Central Florida have helped this school become successful.
[edit] Sports
Timber Creek High School takes much pride in its football program. Timber Creek has been a major football contender in Orange County. However, Timber Creek High School has only made it to a divisional playoff once, since their division sets them playing other major playoff-contending high schools such as Apopka, Edgewater, and Lake Brantley. More recently, Timber Creek High School has had a (9-1) record going to the district playoffs versus Apopka High School on November 10, 2006. Apopka won 20 - 0, thus ending Timber Creek's Best Season in its history. Timber Creek's attendance at football games is in the hundreds, among the higher numbers in the area. Timber Creek has been the center of attention in many local channels such as local 13 news. Timber Creek has also been successful in other sports such as Volleyball. The mens and womens teams in 2005 and 2006 have been ranked quite high in state. Among other successful sports are softball, cross country, swim team, cheersquad, track, and soccer. All have received significant state recognition.
Athletic teams offered by Timber Creek include: Cross Country, Track, Football, Girl's Flag Football, Baseball, Softball, Golf, Wrestling, Basketball, Hockey (club sport), Lacrosse, Water Polo, Swimming, Volleyball, Tennis, Bowling (2006 FHSAA State Champion Boys and Girls teams), and Soccer.
Major Rivals are University High School and Boone High School. University has been a rival since the opening of Timber Creek due to its close proximity. Boone has developed into a slight rival.

Timber Creek High School features a wide array of clubs and organizations including Key Club, a variety of foreign language-related clubs (Spanish, Latin, German, French etc.), a Gnip-Gnop club (Ping-Pong, backwards), a Teenage Republicans' Club, Young Democrats' Club, SGA, BETA Club, BPA, Fashion Club, Anatomy/Pre-med Club, Debate Team, US Air Force Junior ROTC (Unit: FL-20041), Timber Creek Choir, Timber Creek Bands (including orchestras, concert bands, and the 2003 FL State Champion Marching Band, the Timber Creek Regiment), a Drama Club and District 5 Thespian Troupe 6303, whose members have done consitently well as district and state level competitions.
[edit] Drama Department
The director of the Timber Creek High School Drama Department is Julie Shugg. Mrs. Shugg is also the sponsor of the school's large Drama Club. The Drama Department has put on a number of productions including Medea, Dracula, The Pajama Game, Crazy for You and a number of others. This year the fall production was Arsenic and Old Lace, directed by Ms. Ekblom. The leads in this production were played by Courtney Jones, Ana Bechel, Mike Osbourne, Marcia Davidson, Chad Erickson, and Andy Boell. The Christmas production was a community play directed by Mrs. Shugg. It was Miracle on 34th Street. The four leads were played by Josh McDonald, Chelsey Baugh, Kristen Holder, and Chad Erickson. The spring musical will be CATs, directed by Mrs. Shugg. All the drama students are nervous about this production for Shugg has said "I have a vision." They have learned to be afraid of that phrase.
