Tim Montgomerie (born 1970) is a Conservative blogger, who runs ConservativeHome.

Montgomerie and David Burrowes (now an MP) jointly founded The Conservative Christian Fellowship (an organisation allied with the British Conservative Party) in 1990 whilst they were students at Exeter University. In 1998 he became the full-time Director of the Conservative Christian Fellowship[1][2]

In 2003 Montgomerie became Political Secretary to the British Conservative Party Leader Iain Duncan Smith MP,[3] and was described as being behind the stress on compassionate conservatism.[4]

In 2005 Montgomerie set up the ConservativeHome blog to help the Conservative general election campaign.[5] With John Hayes MP he also set up conservativedemocracy.com which aimed to co-ordinate grassroots support for retaining 'one member, one vote' in the choice of Conservative Party leader.[6] Montgomerie is a core presenter of the Internet television channel 18 Doughty Street, which he set up[7]. An "anonymous pundit" included Montgomerie in a list of "Pundits: Turning the airwaves blue", describing him as "emerging as a major player in Tory politics."[8]. He has been a critic of Cameron's focus on winning middle class swing voters[9] [10] candidate selection[11][12] and lack of Thatcherite policies,[13] although has been used as an expert on internet campaigning by Conservative Central Office.[14][15][16]

He has written for various publications including the Independent[17], the Guardian,[18] The Business[19] and the Weekly Standard.[20]
