Timothy M. Carter (born September 21, 1979 in St. Petersburg, FL) is a National Football League wide receiver for the New York Giants. He was drafted in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft out of Auburn University. In his 4-year career with the Giants, Carter has caught 50 passes for 714 yards and one touchdown.
He is one of the fastest men in the NFL, running the 40 yard dash during the draft combine in 4.34 seconds.

Carter attended Lake wood High School (Saint Petersburg, Florida) and was a letterman in football and track.

Tim Carter made his first reception, for 22 yards, of the season in the huge comeback @ the Eagles in week two, he also added a fumble return for a TD after Plaxico Burress fumbled it and it rolled into the Endzone. He had the ball in the Endzone a week later as the Giants were thumped by the Seahawks. It was a 25 yard reception from Eli Manning. He had 3 receptions for 43 yards and a TD in this game. He continued his reliable production against the Redskins with 4 receptions for 44 yards.

Carter is the cousin of major league baseball players Gary Sheffield and Dwight Gooden, as well as fellow NFL players Darrin Nelson, Al Harris, Timothy Newsome, Ozzie Newsome and Carlos Carson. Tim's younger brother Patrick Carter was formerly a quarterback and wide receiver with Georgia Tech, and currently plays wide receiver for the University of Louisville (current Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino was formerly the Auburn offensive coordinator).
