The version recorded by Teresa Brewer on August 19, 1952 and released by Coral Records as catalog number 60873 reached #1 on the Billboard chart for 7 weeks and #1 on the Cash Box chart for 6 weeks in 1953. Other competing versions on the chart were recorded by Dick Todd (#17), Russ Morgan (#23), and The Harmonicats (#26). The song was recorded by Alma Cogan and Joan Regan in the United Kingdom around the same time.
