Tommy's own great-grandfather – T. C. “Buck” Steiner - recently passed away at the age of 101.
Bobby Steiner first started competing on the Professional Rodeo Cowboy's Association circuit at 15 years old and by age 22 was a World Champion. Now Steiner is a PBR Ring of Honor inductee.
Steiner first qualified for the PRCA National Finals Rodeo in 1970 and won the first go-round of competition. He continued to qualify for the NFR through 1973 when he was crowned World Champion Bull Rider. It was during these years that he met and married wife, Joleen who was a NFR qualifier herself in the Ladies Barrel Racing.
Bobby and Joleen currently reside on a ranch near Bastrop, Texas. Steiner claims his greatest accomplishment has been being a good father and good husband. Their two sons are quite accomplished as well, Tommy Shane is a Nashville recording artist while Sid is a PRCA World Champion Steer Wrestler. They are also the proud grandparents of four-year old, Steely and two-year old Rocker Shane.
