Tiger Club

The Tiger Club is a flying club formed in 1956 at Croydon Airport, England to race DH82a de Havilland Tiger Moths. The founder was Norman Jones who ran the Club until he handed it over to his son Michael Jones. The Club moved to Redhill, Surrey in 1959 when Croydon closed and stayed there until 1990 when the Club was sold to a group of members, who formed it into a Limited Company and moved the operation to Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent.
Norman Jones was the owner of Rollason Aircraft and Engines which was also based at Croydon. This company bought many ex-military aircraft in the 1950s and civilianised them and sold them or passed them to the Tiger Club to operate. These included the Tiger Moth G-ACDC which was the third Tiger Moth built in 1933, it had served the RAF as a basic trainer registered BB726.
Other aircraft the Club has operated over the years include SNCAN SV4C Stampe, Jackaroo, Puss Moth, Hornet Moth, Rollason Condor, Rollason Turbulent, Rollason Beta, Cosmic Wind, various Jodels, Arrow Active, Piper Super Cub and several others.
