The Tifton and Northeastern Railroad was chartered in 1891 and built a 25 mile line from Tifton, GA to Fitzgerald, GA in 1896. The Atlantic and Birmingham Railway purchased the T&N in 1903. It then became part of the Atlanta, Birmingham and Atlantic Railroad when it took over the A&B in 1905-06.
