Tidewater region of Virginia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tidewater region of Virginia is a term used to refer to the southeastern portion of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The region is also generally referred to as Hampton Roads. (See also Virginia Peninsula and South Hampton Roads.)
According to experts in Virginia's geography, the term "Tidewater" may be correctly applied to all portions of Virginia where the water level is affected by the tides. In general, this is most of the land east of I-95 (which runs between major cities along the fall line), and north of US 460.
