You are continually bickering about what is relevent for general info, go look at runescape, its basically a manual, extensive at that, shouldnt tibia be allowed as much?

Sorry little time but there is a lvl 271 in rl tibia, ot servers are part of tibia so should be included, yes it lacks detail, and btw whats with the ai for 5cc?

Not sure if "Orshabaal death star attack" is a spell or not, and if it is then I bet it is not the official name, but what I do know is that there are quite a few level 200s in real Tibia. [edit] Screenshoots

It would be apropiate to edit the screenshoots for it to show the game after the last winter update since it dramaticcly changed the game to make it look nicer, maybe not delete the screenshoots since they are nevertheless part of tibian development but it would be nice to see recent screenshoots

I agree, in paticular I belive someone should post a screen shot of the new login screen as the picture finally changed after numerous years. Also interesting would be some pictures of the underwater aspect of the game. Darkwraith 17:31, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

The whole article needs a major rewrite. It lacks a useful structure, the language is aweful and it's filled with opinions and useless details. Please keep in mind that wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a platform to advertise your guild or to state your opinion. --Lodan 16:08, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

I just recently corrected a few sentences, and there I found two guilds. If I followed your example I should have removed the sentences completely. I must say that I personally disagree on doing that as they are known guilds in Tibia and should be perfect examples of what some people actually do in Tibia. The edit history says "removed fancrufty jargon list, linked tibiawiki instead". Please read the the agreed upon rules of thumb on computer game information in Wikipedia: if content only has value to people actually playing the game, it's unsuitable. Please understand that we're not building a complete guide to Tibia here for its players -- this is an encyclopaedia entry aimed at a general audience. The recently added "popular hunting spots" section, and even the town list suffer from the same problem. Another issue is verifiability -- every player has something to add to these lists that in his/her view fits, and since there are no criteria for inclusion they just grow and grow and become the largest sections in the article. This kind of content is ideally suited for a WikiBook or fansite, and in fact the TibiaWiki already has a much more comprehensive entry on in-game jargon -- so I linked that and removed the list here. I hope you understand this reasoning, and invite you to sign up at Wikipedia and contribute on other articles as well. -c3o 23:03, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

I removed the lists of small towns and monsters. The computer and video games wikiproject states:

  • Articles on computer and video games should give an encyclopedia overview of what the game is about, not a detailed description of how to play it. ... if the content only has value to people actually playing the game, it's unsuitable.

I would have moved the lists to Wikibooks, but to me they seemed to not even provide real reference value, they were just lists of names instead of guides, tips or even just descriptions. C3o 19:09, 1 August 2005 (UTC)

I would advise the editors in question to contribute the more in-depth content (that which may be considered Fancruft here) to TibiaWiki instead. I do not think OpenTibia should be linked as its a bitch of the game copyright holders, and they do not wish OpenTibia to be advertised.

If the project itself is indeed illegal, I would assume there were a way for CIPSoft to have it removed from Sourceforge. If using the emulator is a breach of the terms of service, add a section about that and explain the issues. I strongly object, however, to censoring the entry on behalf of the company, so I added the link again. --C3o 23:02, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I agree, wether is it illegal or not according to the rules from cipsoft shouldn't matter for Wikipedia, we just provide information, we are not here to enforce the law. If it would be illegal by the law it could be a problem, but even then I think Cipsoft needs to take actions to remove it from Sourceforge before Wikipedia should have a problem with having it on the site. --Dennis! 22:06, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
There's articles about crimes and illegal drugs on WikiPedia. OpenTibia is a fact and needs to be recognised.
One thing is to tell about facts, another thing is to stimulate or to support these facts. Maybe it is not a good thing link to such sites. Read this article.
I myself am very involed in the developement of otserv and I am pretty sure we dont violate any rights of CIP. No sourcecode of the CIP server or client was/is used. CIP has been aware of this project for a rather long time now (Over a year for sure. We got an email asking us not to do anything illegal. OTFans is a completely unsuitable link as it does not describe what OTServ is at all, provides no apparent download links, etc. It's just a forum for people already intimately familar with the software, and that's not at all what a visitor from Wikipedia would be looking for. There should be some things about OT server but it should be treated carefully and with a lot of well backed up information, some people just post whatever they think and its often wrong. and gee we are not gonna skip an article about murder because its illegal will we?

[edit] Mentioning Game Cheats

I understand in games like this cheating programs really give players an advantage over others. Should the likes of TibiaBot be directly mentioned here? I'd remove this sentence: "The first popular cheat for Tibia was Tibia GG, followed by TibiaBot.". Everything else still makes sense with that gone though. Can this be done?

I reverted an edit that removed the third party programs. I also removed the list of weapons and their stats since it makes it look like a game guide.

Should TibiaBot, which is illegal and ruins the game fun, mentioned? "Official Site of NG Soft, developer of TibiCam NG and TibiaBot NG", I hope you consider removing it!

Throughout the Article the message "This article or section is a candidate to be moved to a gaming wiki." can be seen. I think the TibiaWiki link should be placed several times through the entire Tibia article, instead of being just once at the very bottom.

The tibiawiki site is a very valuable resource for people wanting information about tibia and it could also strike a compromise between the ideas of "Articles on computer and video games should not list minutiae or give a detailed description of how to play the game. Such topics should be moved to a gaming wiki, such as StrategyWiki, Encyclopedia Gamia, or GameInfo." and people who do want detailed information.

[edit] Removed version 7.9 update from article

Hi. I temporarily removed the 7.9 update information. It can now be found here: Talk:Tibia_(computer_game)/v79updatetemp. Feel free to move it back post-update. The reason I did this is because these articles are supposed to be 100% factual. Though most of this was gained from a reliable source, things get taken out last minute, and a lot of unsurities were also in there (i.e. "There is also a hint of a website update coming"). For news on an update you check a fansite, not Wikipedia. For archived facts on previous updates, you go to Wikipedia.
