Throw the Jew down the well

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Throw the Jew Down the Well is a song from Da Ali G Show that Borat Sagdiyev (the fictional Kazakh journalist played by Sacha Baron Cohen) sang in front of a country music club in a bar located in Tucson, Arizona. The song was controversial due to the fact that it was highly anti-Semitic. However, Cohen is Jewish himself.

The reaction by the public who saw this had a varied view; some[name a specific person/group] thought that Baron Cohen was being racist and unthoughtful of the races, however some[name a specific person/group] thought it was okay and funny due to the fact that Sacha is Jewish himself. However, what is interesting to note is that the reactions of Borat's public in the bar as he was singing was one of embracement rather than rejection. The crowd, mostly consisting of "rednecks" and "hicks" stereotypes, were cheerfully clapping, singing along and were well aware that he was singing about Jews.[citation needed] This was Sacha Baron Cohen's probable intention[citation needed]: to show that anti-Semitism exists today in the United States.
