Thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI), also known as plasma carboxypeptidase B2 is a recently described plasma zymogen that, when exposed to the thrombin-thrombomodulin complex, is converted by proteolysis at Arg92 to a basic carboxypeptidase (TAFIa or activated TAFI) that inhibits fibrinolysis. TAFI is produced by the liver.
