This episode revolves around all four of the women contemplating having a threesome for unrelated reasons. Carrie finds out that Big was married once, and that he had a threesome. She meets the ex-wife and eventually gets over her worries that she'll never be able to live up to her. Charlotte's boyfriend wants to have a threesome. When she finally goes forward with the idea, the boyfriend becomes more interested in the third woman than in Charlotte. Samantha unwittingly becomes involved with a married man, and the wife offers to have a threesome to keep the marriage together, to which Samantha declines. Miranda feels left out because she's never been "threesome material", so she responds to a classified ad to validate her sexual appeal.
