From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thoughtless are from Australia, and are a Melbourne-based band. With Matthew Tomsic on Drums, Paul Bissaza on Bass, Christopher Tolj and Simon Veitch on Guitars, and Christopher Tolj on vocals, the band tries to incorporate many different aspects of today's music into their music so that they don't sound like everyone else. The band is committed to making their music great and -- "...will break a song down, and rebuild it from scratch... and break it down again if that's what it takes." - Toljy.

[edit] The Band
[edit] History
It all started at the beginning of Grade 9 at Overnewton College. Overnewton has 2 campuses, and at Grade 9 they come together for the rest of high school. This is where guitarist Christopher Tolj met drummer Matthew Tomsic. They were in the same class, and during the course of the first term became good friends. During his vacation to America, Europe and parts of Asia the previous Christmas, Chris had come up with a crazy idea; to start a band, though he had never made any piece of music in his life, nor even for that matter shown an interest. Chris had told others of his idea, and Matthew, as it seemed, stole the idea for himself. They decided to start a band up together.
After spending about 4 months waiting for Matthew’s garage to become available to practice in, the time had come to look for a singer. It was very hard indeed. But at the beginning of the last term of the year, word got out that Chris and Matt were starting a band. After a few friends started cracking jokes such as it being a boy-band, and that they had to play the song Uptown Girl at least once, Priscilla Pateras, a girl in their class came up to them and asked if she could be in the band. She sung for them, and immediately they knew they had their singer.
Shortly after, Matthew recruited his friend who he played cricket with, Paul Bissaza on Bass Guitar. They played their first show at school. It went as well as it could possibly go. Chris broke a string 5 minutes before show time; a few mistakes here and there but all pretty good.
For about 6 months after, the band was doing alright and set up a few shows, but hadn't played yet. They needed another guitarist, so they enlisted Paul's friend Rory, who was supposedly crazy at guitar. But Rory got expelled form school, and Matt's mom didn't want Rory in her house. So they got another guitarist that Priscilla knew, Jack Darigan, who liked oldie Rock n' Roll like Priscilla. About an hour after the end of Jack's first practice, Priscilla said she was leaving the band to start another with Jack.
Everyone thought it was all for the best, and Matt, Paul and Chris decided to keep going. As soon as Chris heard the news he enlisted his friend Simon Veitch to play guitar for them. Simon was a mate of Chris's for a few years and they had often spoken about ideas for bands. Simon had been playing guitar for nearly 6 years at this point and had some fairly good equipment with him. After Simon's first band Phoenix Down failed to kick off, he settled down to start working on Linkin Park and Disturbed songs. Due to the instances surrounding Thoughtless, Simon was asked to join in and thus Thoughtless was finally complete.
So the new band was set; Christopher Tolj, Simon Veitch, Matthew Tomsic and Paul Bissaza. Now, in 2006, the band attempts to write their own material and will hopefully be performing their own songs in the near future, also aiming to release their first EP in late 2006 or early 2007.

[edit] EP
[edit] Release
In late 2006 or early 2007, Thoughtless is set to release their self-titled EP, Thoughtless EP. There is some deliberation as to whether to name the EP in which case it could be Thoughtless: Abortion EP. Abortion EP: "The arrest of an action or process before its completion."
There are currently two confirmed tracks: ' Change ' and ' Lies '. A cover song, as of now unknown as to which, is also rumoured to appear on the EP. Influences for the band include Linkin Park, Disturbed, and Three Days Grace, and Chris has described it as nothing but walls of distrion, put together in harmony with the beats, that accentuate the soft tones of the guitar. This EP is set to be released late 2006 or early 2007.
