Thorne N. Melcher is an aspiring writer and computer programmer, currently a first-year sophomore in Emory University's undergraduate program, where is is simultaneously seeking a B.A. in English/Creative Writing and a B.S. in Mathematics/Computer Science.
Thorne is from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and is an alumnus (graduating cum laude) of Baylor School, a private day and boarding school in the area. Thorne is also an alumnus of the Youth For Understanding program, through which he spent the summer of 2004 in Akashi, Japan. Thorne's ideal career is one in creative writing, namely novels and screenplays. Currently, he is spending free time working on is first project, Conversations with a Boddhisattva, a novel about personal philosophy.
Thorne is also an avid programmer and a registered member of the Apple Developer Connection. He uses a 15" MacBook Pro, primarily using OSX, though occasionally utilizing the technology of Parallels for program testing in Linux and Windows.
In his not so copious amounts of free time, Thorne is also an avid gamer, his current console of choice being the Xbox 360. Though the console's achievement system, he has distinguished his skills, earning over 300 achievements and 10000 gamerscore under the gamertag "Menefalas." Additionally, he has earned maximum gamerscore for five retail games and three Xbox Live Arcade games.
