Thousand Islands (Indonesia)

Thousand Islands (Indonesian: Kepulauan Seribu) is the only regency of Jakarta, Indonesia. Located on Jakarta Bay, the islands are about 45 km north of mainland Jakarta in the Java Sea. The islands used to be a subdistrict of North Jakarta.
There are 105 islands with total land area of 8.7 km². The population is about 20,000. The most inhabited island is Panggang Island.

Pramuka Island is the regency seat of the Thousand Islands.
The regency is divided into 2 subdistricts:
- North Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu Utara)
- South Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu Selatan)

Fishing is the main trade of the islands. However, there has been a drop in the value of the trade due to overfishing by fishing vessels operating in the area.

One of the islands, Bidadari Island, is a place to go for fishing or diving. The islands also hold a protected national park.
