Thottbot
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thottbot is an unofficial World of Warcraft database with information gathered by players using an LUA plugin that uploads data such as the drop rates of items, locations of specific mobs and quest information directly to the websites database. Although this database is widely used, it isn't completely accurate.
Information contained on Thottbot includes descriptions of every item, weapon and armor piece. To navigate through this vast amount of information users can browse by categories or search by item names. There are also collections of player profiles allowing others to view other character's equipment outside of the game. Thottbot is also affiliated with Cosmos, a popular collection of user-interface modifications.
The original Thottbot was a news aggregator created by Aftathott, founder of Everquest uberguild Afterlife. Its purpose was to comb various video game websites for news and information on a number of MMORPGs with a focus on Everquest. Though the primary site is now used for the World of Warcraft database, the news aggregator still exists as a sister site.
The process is as follows:
WoW Server to WoW Client to Thottbot Client Plugin to Thottbot Patcher/Uploader to Thottbot Server to Thottbot Website to Viewer of gathered information
