The Lancashire towns of Thornton and Cleveleys were served by one railway station, Thornton for Cleveleys railway station was a small sized station with two platforms for the Fleetwood Branch lines.
After the closure of Fleetwood railway station and the Fleetwood branch line, the station was no longer need, therefore it was abandoned. There has recent been talks of reopening the Fleetwood branch, therefore this would result in many of the closed stations on the before mentioned line been reopened.
