Thorin

Meaning "Son of the Storm Goddess", Thorin is a name of a dwarf from Norse Mythology. It was borrowed by J. R. R. Tolkien as a name for three kings of Dwarves in his fictional universe of Middle-earth:
- Thorin I
- Thorin II Oakenshield, a companion of Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit.
- Thorin III Stonehelm
Thorin is also an organic arsenic compound used in the determination of thorium and barium.
