Thomas Meighan

Thomas Meighan (April 9, 1879 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - July 8, 1936, Great Neck, New York) was an American actor of silent films and early talkies.

Meighan made his film debut in 1914 and made more than 80 films over a period of 20 years, he was a favorite of Paramount Pictures producer and director Cecil B. DeMille and paired up with some of Hollywood's leading femmes such as Norma Talmadge, Leatrice Joy, Lila Lee, Blanche Sweet, Evelyn Brent, and Billie Burke. At his prime he was making between $5,000 and $10,000 a week.

Though his first sound picture was a success, his fame began a rapid decline, though he still managed to make a few films playing fatherly type characters. On July 8, 1936 he died of cancer, and was survived by his wife Frances.
