Thomas Lyon-Bowes, 12th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne

Thomas Lyon-Bowes, 12th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne (28 September 1822 - 13 September 1865) was the eldest surviving son of Thomas George Bowes-Lyon, Lord Glamis and his wife Charlotte Grimstead.
His paternal grandparents were Thomas Bowes-Lyon, 11th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and his first wife Mary Elizabeth Louisa Rodney Carpenter. His maternal grandparents were Joseph Valentine Grimstead and Charlotte Sarah Jane Walsh.
With the death of his father on 27 January 1834, Thomas became the heir of his paternal grandfather. He inherited his titles and most of his estate on the death of said grandfather on 27 August 1846).
On 30 April 1850, Strathmore married Charlotte Maria Barrington. She was a daughter of William Keppel Barrington, 6th Viscount Barrington and his wife Jane Elizabeth Liddell. Jane was in turn a daughter of Thomas Henry Liddell, 1st Baron Ravensworth and his wife Maria Susannah Simpson.
This marriage was childless and the Earl was succeeded by his younger brother Claude Bowes-Lyon, 13th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne.
