Thomas Liggio

Thomas Liggio represents District 8 on the Hudson County, New Jersey Board of Chosen Freeholders, one of nine members who serve in a legislative role administering all county business. District 8 includes the Township of North Bergen and portions of the City of Jersey City and the Town of Secaucus. Liggio's three-year term of office expires on December 31, 2008.

Liggio is a two-term freeholder. Previously, he served as a commissioner in the Township of North Bergen for three-and-one-half terms, filling mid-term during a recall election in 1985. His subsequent re-elections in 1987, 1991 and 1995 were interrupted in 1999 in order to run for the position of freeholder.

For the 2006 Board, Freeholder Liggio was elected Vice Chairman after serving as Chairman Pro Tempore for the 2003 board term. He serves as Chairman of both the Purchasing Committee and the Senior Citizens and Veterans Affairs Committee. He serves as a member of the following committees: Contract Review; Economic Development and Housing; Personnel; Public Resources; and Transportation.

Freeholder Liggio possesses an M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck campus, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Currently he is the Director of Compliance for the North Bergen Municipal Utilities Authority.
