Thomas L. J. D'Alesandro III

Thomas D'Alesandro III (b. 1929), is a former Democratic mayor of Baltimore.
D'Alesandro is the brother of Speaker of the United States House of Representatives-elect Nancy Pelosi, and son of former Baltimore Mayor Thomas D'Alesandro, Jr.. His father had been mayor from 1947 to 1959
In 1967 at age 38, after having served five years as president of the city council, D'Alesandro ran for mayor and defeated G.O.P. moderate Arthur W. Sherwood, 138,938 to 28,528. He declined to run for a second term in 1971 and retreated to the business world and faded into obscurity.
