Tom O'Brien is currently the Massachusetts State Representative for the 12th Plymouth District, which includes the towns of Kingston and Plympton and parts of Plymouth, Duxbury, Halifax, and Middleborough. He is a Democrat. O'Brien was first elected to the Massachusetts House in 1996. O'Brien has a perfect 100% voting record, never having missed a roll call vote. O'Brien won his party's nomination for another term in the 2006 primary election, but declined the nomination. His term expires in January 2007.
In August 2006, O'Brien was appointed to the post of Treasurer of Plymouth County. His term will expire in 2008, at which time he may run for reelection.
O'Brien is married to Elisabeth O'Brien, with two children. He earned a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University. O'Brien is the only Eagle Scout currently serving in the Massachusetts legislature.
