Major General Sir Thomas Arbuthnot, KCB. Born Rockfleet Castle, Co Mayo, Ireland 11 September 1776, sixth son of John Arbuthnot, Sr of Rockfleet Castle. Died unmarried at his residence in The Crescent, Salford 17 January 1849. Lt General, 71st Highlanders. Served through the Peninsular War and was ADC to King George III in 1814. He was brother of General Sir Robert Arbuthnot, Bt, KCB and Charles Arbuthnot and Rt Rev Alexaander Arbuthnot. He was uncle of Alexander John Arbuthnot, George Bingham Arbuthnot and Charles George Arbuthnot.
