[edit] Merge with Kristian Menchaca
I'd like to have the merge discussion on Talk:Kristian Menchaca, if that's alright with everyone. TomTheHand 16:25, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be merged.--Pharos 19:33, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your input, Pharos. Could you also give your input on Talk:Kristian Menchaca? I think it would be best to have the entire discussion in one place. TomTheHand 20:18, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
DISAGREE these are two seperate indiviuals and once more time is given to each article for more information to be added it will develop both articles seperatly. These two indiviuals had seperate lifes and the only common point they have was when they were killed by the Iraqi insurgents.Bnguyen 04:43, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
I have removed merging, and current event thing, becouse, things arent rapidly changing any more, and most agree that we disagree on merging
- Stop removing the merge notice. It's only been up for one day. You apparently agreed at one point and then changed your mind, and Bnguyen disagrees. I and Pharos agree with the merge. Let's keep discussion on Talk:Kristian Menchaca so it's all in one place. TomTheHand 12:01, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Of course they are two seperate individuals, but their only notability is their kidnapping and murder, so the articles about them will be almost identical. Edrigu 01:53, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
A possible name for a merged article is being discussed at Talk:Kristian Menchaca. TomTheHand 14:56, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
AGREE - I believe that the 2 articles should be merged. The two were "seperate indiviuals" [sic] but they are noteworthy because of the incident that happened to them together. There would not be an entry on either of them if not for the tragic way they were killed. Thanks Hu Gadarn 17:22, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hu Gadarn, if you'd like, please participate in the discussion on Talk:Kristian Menchaca about what to name the merged article. TomTheHand 17:25, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
DISAGREE To be on safe side, in case future content is added for both men, it is thus safer to have both articles share some information instead of having one article for both with seperate information added to each individual in that one article. It will get messy if they are merged. They are two different people, and have their own lives. Their families and friends might add more info on them in the near future.
DISAGREE I live in the same town that Pvt. Tucker lived in, my sister sat next to him in band. He is a different person with a different life than Pvt. Menchaca, and the only similarities they have were that they were in the same unit and killed at the same time Heyhasanyoneseenmyappendix 00:09, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
- And that is also the only reason why they are notable. Edrigu 23:35, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
- The reason a researcher would want to know about about the individuals involved in the notable incident would be for personal information. This information is specific to each person. For organizational reasons and just plain being consistent these shouldn't be merged. But I do think all common information about this kidnapping by put in a new article to avoid redundency and allow for describing the whole incident such as the 3rd person killed a little better. (I put my DISAGREE on the other talk page) --SirYoda 08:03, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
DISAGREE I think they should have their own page. yes the incident betwwen them happened together but they were two seperate individuals that fought for the country. lets show them some respect and let them have their own page, its not hurting anyone so just let it be. --User:Mcoop06
Disagree - albeit I do think that the incident in which they were involved should have its own article, and the 2 pages should just point at it. It concerned far more people than just the 2 - their kidnappers, their units, their chain of command... --Alvestrand 21:00, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Agree to merge material about the incidents surrounding their deaths. Then expand this article to cover more biographical information with briefer coverage of his death.
[edit] cleaned up article
Removed dead links and poorly sourced material of a sensitive nature. Do not reinsert without good sources from reliable sources/ --FloNight 23:15, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
