From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thor and Hymir go fishing for the Midgard Serpent.

From the 18th century Icelandic manuscript SÁM 66 in the care of the Árni Magnússon Institute in Iceland.

In standardized modern Icelandic spelling and my translation the text up in the right corner reads as follows.

Þór rær á sjó með Ymi jötni og dregur
hér Miðgarðs-Orminn, reiðist Ymi og reiðir
hamarinn Mjölnir og vill ljósta hann fyrir
hugleysi svo sem lesa má í XII. dæmisögu Eddu.
Thor rows to sea with Ymir the giant and here
he's catching the Midgard Serpent. He gets angry
with Ymir and holds up the hammer Mjölnir and
wants to smite him for his cowardice as can be
read in the XIIth parable of Edda.
