This is stated to be an oil portrait of Thomas Sully, American painter, as captured in a daguerrotype produced by Mathew Brady's studio between 1851 and 1860. The image was cropped from a digital version in the Library of Congress online collection; American copyright has expired. Library of Congress information follows.
