[edit] Thijs!bot
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that the Thijs!bot doesn't work perfectly with inter-wikilinks that contain characters that can be interpreted as markup.
On Decade of Roma Inclusion it added: nap:Decennio da inclusione de Roma ...which doesn't work - it just leaves nap:Decennio da inclusione de Roma at the bottom of the page.
It should have put nap:Decennio da inclusione de Roma. (You'll have to edit this page to see the difference.) Maybe you can adjust it so that it converts characters like that automatically in the future? Thanks. -- TheMightyQuill 15:15, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

- Ah, I see. However, I did not program my bot myself, so don't know how to fix this automatically. I will have a look at the source code, but never programmed Python before, so probably I won't be able to change it. Thanks for the suggestion anyway! Thijs! 19:48, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Mably
Thanks for the good interwiki work you do. There's a difficulty with the English article Gabriel Bonnet de Mably where bots add links to articles about the French commune of Mably. No big deal for me to remove them (Italian, Dutch and Polish), but it's happened twice in two days! HJMG
- I'll keep watching it. The cause is probably that one of the pages that is linked to, has a wrong link, which is therefore included in every article. Thijs! 17:53, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Bot Problem regarding Odense
Dear Thisj! Your bot doing interwiki link on the english wikipedia came by the article Odense Municipalityand have switched around the linksthat should have pointed to Odense and Odense, Denmark. The prolbme may arise in that somebody moved the artilce about the city to Odense, Denmark and made a disambig page at Odense instead, this is currently in a vote to move back. So to be clearly there is a difference on the artilce about the city of Odense (Odense, Denmark, formerly Odense) and the municipality of Odense (Odense Municipality). Can you please set your bot to revert the interwikilinks since it would be a tedious task kind regards Mads Angelbo 22:37, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- This is indeed tedious, because another problem arises. Many wikipedia's have this article stating something like: "Odense is a city and municipality in Denmark .." So we have three kinds of articles:
- "Odense is a city in Denmark.."
- "Odense is a municipality in Denmark.."
- "Odense is a city and municipality in Denmark.."
- Do you know if there has been any discussion anywhere on how to solve this? Should there be any link between articles of these three types or should they be fully seperated? I will have a close look at all different pages, but this will take more time, which I might find tomorrow or friday. Thanks! Thijs! 22:51, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- The problem arises because in Denmark munincipalities consist of rural areas and several towns, and usaual naming convention have been that the municipality is named for the largest tonw/city in the area. it gets tricky when the same city name is used for both a municipality and a county also.
- The Standard is to have two different articeles linking to each other, eg: city XX is the seat of XX municipality and YY county.
- a way to spot the diffenrece is the coat of arms are in the municipalities articles and is not represented in the city articles. It is the same with Norwegian and Swedish cities and municipalities.
- Please take your time, the article Odense, Denmark is most likely going to be moved back to Odense and as I said before, it is not a major problem, I just thought that your bot had a fancy revert edit thingy, if it malfunctioned or something.
- Kind regards Angelbo 23:09, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

-
- Yes, I understand the reason for the problem. I will explain my point a bit more. The Dutch article Odense says "Odense is een gemeente en stad in de Deense regio Zuid-Denemarken (Syddanmark) (met ingang van 1 januari 2007) en telt 186.595 inwoners (2006)." This means "Odense is a municipality and city in the Danish region South-Denmark..." Should this article be linked to Odense, Denmark or Odense Municipality, and similar in the other wikipedia's which use this construction? If that is clear, I will solve the interwiki-problem. - Hi Thijs! The rule seems to have been that whenever an article describes both options, it is grouped with the "Odense" article and only the articles dealing solely with the Odense Municipality as such are grouped together. I went through all of them last night returning them to the situation before the bot passed by (+ adding the ca: interwiki where appropriate.) I think the problem is fixed now. Cheers. - Hi Thjis, The interwikilinks should primarialy be to the city articles and not to the municipalities articles. Hope that helps you. Angelbo 20:49, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Floresta, Italy
The bot unjustifiedly removed interwikis from Floresta, Italy. --Attilios 23:56, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- No, I think it was a bot. Anyway, the Floresta links I've put back are working. Test them. Bye and good work. --Attilios 00:10, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Now they do. The link to pt: you added the first time was wrong, and messing up my bot's work. I never run my bot under my personal account. Thijs! 09:21, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
