This Time is the eleventh track from The Verve's 1997 album Urban Hymns (see 1997 in British music). Like Weeping Willow, this song is a cross between the Psychedelic rock and Britpop styles of music. The song features very little percussion apart from the hi-hat cymbals, and the guitar riff at the start is the same as the one heard in the introduction to Lucky Man, however played slower.
The song uses some of the synthetic MIDI sounds throughout the piece, especially as interludes between vocal verses. The bass guitar part remains almost constant throughout the song, rising up the mixolydian scale from F to D.
