IMDb profile |
This Boy's Life was a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Tobias Wolff . The 1993 film starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Ellen Barkin, playing the roles of the narrator, Dwight, and the narrator's mother, respectively. It also features Chris Cooper and Eliza Dushku, and Tobey Maguire in small roles.
Largely filmed in the state of Washington, the town of Concrete, Washington (where Tobias Wolff's teen years were spent with his mother [Barkin] and stepfather, Dwight [De Niro]) was transformed to it's actual 1950's appearance for a realistic feel. Many of the town's own citizens were used as extras and all external scenes in Concrete (and some internal scenes, as well) were shot in and around the town, including the still active Concrete High School building.
