Thiruvonam is a panchayat town in Thanjavure district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Thiruvonam is located at 10.30° N 79.10° E. It has an average elevation of 36 metres (120 feet).

A small town located south of Thanjavure and has population about approximately 1000. A panchayat union comprises of more than 20 small villages and has its northern boundary spread across lower southern part of city of Thanjavure. N.S.Durairaj being current chairman of panchayat union while Mahesh serving as its present member of Legislative Assembly of state of Tamilnadu. History of this town dates back to early 1000 A.D. and was one of Cholas kingdoms important place of pilgrimage. Its soccer team and festival of temple of Muthumariamman are famous.
