[edit] Creators

The Third Kingdom Skirmish Game was created by Jonathan Myers and Mark Vining. Myers creates many of the sculptures for the game, while Vining oversees the actual production of it. This collaborative effort helped to create one of the more interesting and innovative war games ever produced in the industry. The game is produced under Whimsical Entertainment.

[edit] World History

It was recorded that the First Kingdom was the age when animals coexisted peacefully in the Garden of Eden. This was a time of harmony and fairness, until the fall of the greatest of all the Creator's creatures was seduced by evil. This creature was the great serpent, Lilith, and she brought ruin into the animal world.

The Second Kingdom began with the closing of Eden's gates. The species of animals turned upon each other and darkness prevailed. Many turned to the Shadow and the Creator was forced to destroy the world. The Second Kingdom ended with the great cataclysm; from which only two of each species was spared.

The Third Kingdom began after the cataclysm, when the animal species allied themselves with either the shadow or the Light. They now war with each other in an unending struggle; until the time of the End War, when the final battle will determine who shall have dominion over the earth.

[edit] Scale

Third Kingdom is produced in collectable scale. Generally the models can range anywhere from 2-12 inches. This scale is considerably larger than most war games and is not ideal for mass wargaming; however as a skirmish game it does make for fast exciting play. This scale also makes the painting process easier as their is more room for a brush and enables the hobbyist to add considerable more detail to the model.

[edit] Criticism

There has been alot of skeptisism over the scale used in Third Kingdom. This issue in considered an innovative difference to the game, but many traditional gamers argue that it could lead to limited battle expansion and rules issues in the future. Third Kingdom is intended to be a skirmish game, so many of these concerns have yet to be founded.

Critics have also speculated that the use of animals in a skirmish game may not find a viable market, and may ultimately hurt the game's longevity. These arguments have some legitamacy in what is considered to
