Thing On A Spring is a side-scrolling platform/puzzle game produced in 1985 for the Commodore 64 by Gremlin Graphics. Gameplay involves controlling a character similar to "Zebedee" from The Magic Roundabout, through a toy factory while avoiding the evil toys. It was written by Jason Perkins and Mark Rogers. The famous jaunty musical score, composed by Rob Hubbard, is described as "The sound is unbelievable, I won't describe it but just wait until you hear it; words fail," when the game was reviewed by Julian Rignall in Zzap!64.
The cheat mode can be entered by pressing back arrow, inst/del, and the letters t-h-i-n-g whilst on the title screen.
[edit] Trivia
- The Thing On A Spring character went on to become a regular inhabitant of the Zzap!64 margins, along with "Rockford" of Boulder Dash fame.
