Thierry Amar is a Canadian musician and is a member of both Godspeed You! Black Emperor and co-creator of A Silver Mt. Zion, along with Efrim Menuck and Sophie Trudeau.
Amar is a bassist for both bands he participates in, and can often be found playing contra bass and was once found playing violin for A Silver Mt. Zion. Amar is also a singer for A Silver Mt. Zion. He shares this vocal responsibility with the six remaining members of the band. He also plays contra bass with the Black Ox Orkestar.
In 2006, Amar, with Efrim Menuck and Sophie Trudeau (the Godspeed You! Black Emperor members who founded A Silver Mt. Zion, assisted in the recording of Carla Bozulich's first release for Constellation, Evangelista.
Along with Howard Bilerman and Efrim Menuck, Amar owns and operates the Hotel2Tango, a loft space that is a practice area, recording studio, and one of the very few non-commercial venues in Montréal that is capable of playing live concerts.
